  FAQs

How do I schedule a session?

If you are interested in becoming a new client, navigate to the CONTACT tab and click on the NEW CLIENT REQUEST FORM link. This link should direct you to a form that will ask you for some basic demographic information and reason you’re seeking counseling. We will respond to your inquiry within 3 business days. We are looking forward to connecting with you!

Existing clients should contact their individual therapist via email or phone to discuss scheduling details.

What days and times are therapy sessions offered?

We offer sessions Monday through Thursday from 10am-6pm. We appreciate that many adults work during these hours and children are in school. We will do our best to work with your schedule for a session during your lunch hour, after work, or after school. Please note that these spots fill up quickly as they are most desirable! We frequently write school excuse notes so that children’s absences are excused, if they miss school. We can also provide notes for employers, if needed.

Is there a waiting list for new, potential clients?

Just Be Counseling Services is grateful to have many potential clients reach out to our practice! Due to the high volume of inquiries that we receive, we have chosen not to keep a waiting list as we believe connecting to care at the time that services are needed is crucial. Thus, if we do not have any current spots available, we will do our best to provide other options based on your reason for coming to counseling, your age (child or adult), the type of insurance that you have, etc. Since we could not predict how long a person would be on a waiting list, let us help you connect to another provider in the community who can help you now

Does Just Be Counseling Services offer a sliding scale?

We do! This option is available for a limited number of clients, who are experiencing financial stress. These clients are most often uninsured or have insurance that our practice does not accept. As of April 2023, our sliding scale spots are currently full.

We will update our availability to take on new reduced fee clients  here and on our SERVICES page.

How long will I (or my child) be in counseling?

It depends! It depends on a lot of factors: What brings you to counseling? Are your basic needs being met? What supports do you have access to outside of counseling? Are you struggling with a particular situation and/or environment or are you coping with chronic mental health concerns? All of these factors help us determine the appropriate length of counseling for you.

Oftentimes, clients begin outpatient therapy with once-a-week services for regular, consistent support. Overtime, most clients step down to bi-weekly then monthly counseling before ending services. The goal is not for someone to be in counseling for the rest of their life (although some people do utilize therapy for much of their life and that is perfectly fine). Instead, for many people, the goal is to help you get to a place where you feel prepared, equipped and empowered to cope with the stressors that brought you to therapy using the knowledge, self-insight, coping skills, and healing that you gained from counseling.

All clients have the right to discontinue counseling at any time, for any reason.

I need help with my alcohol/drug use. Does Just Be Counseling Services treat substance misuse?

Treating substance misuse in counseling requires special training and often an additional license. In North Carolina, this additional license is called a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS). Neither Emily nor Annie have this specialization and thus we recommend that you look for a counselor who has the letters LCAS behind their name, if you are looking for treatment for alcohol and/or drug use.

Can anyone on staff prescribe psychiatric medication?

Both Annie and Emily are Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors (LCMHC), which means that we do not have the credentials that are required to prescribe psychiatric medications. If you’re looking for medication management, we recommend looking for a psychiatrist or a psychiatric nurse practitioner. You can always begin by getting in touch with your primary care physician or your child’s pediatrician about your desire to explore using psychiatric medications to bolster your mental health. We have many clients who do use psychiatric medications and many clients who don’t. We are supportive of what you need for your health. If you become a client of ours and would like support in connecting to a provider, who can prescribe psychiatric medication, we can support you in finding local providers, who can meet your needs.
