CLINICAL ASSESSMENT

Every new counseling relationship begins with an initial clinical assessment. This assessment will focus on gathering information about your history, discussing what you hope to gain from counseling, and answering any questions you may have about the counseling process.

Completing a comprehensive assessment helps ensure that your counselor has the right skillset and therapeutic approach to support you. If you or your counselor determine that your needs can’t be met at our practice, we will do our best to connect you with a service provider or program that can.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

Following the initial clinical assessment, you and your counselor will settle on a day and time to meet for future sessions. In most cases, weekly or bi-weekly 50 minute sessions are recommended, though frequency and duration of sessions may be adjusted according to your level of need and your counselor’s availability.

FAMILY THERAPY AND CAREGIVER SUPPORT

For some individuals, there may be a need for extending therapy beyond the one-on-one relationship that clients have with their counselor to include therapeutic work within their family system. Depending on the client and the particular family situation, some clients may choose to continue individual sessions in conjunction with family therapy sessions, whereas other clients may benefit from solely focusing on family therapy. Both Emily and Annie have experience leading family therapy sessions and welcome discussions with clients about the potential risks and benefits of choosing to integrate family therapy services into their treatment plan or shift solely to family therapy work.

As clinicians who serve younger folks, we are mindful that the caregivers of children and teens often need support themselves! We acknowledge that parenting is not always a joyful, easy-going experience; sometimes it can be an intense and exhausting process. Caregivers deserve support for their mental health needs, too. We offer counseling services for caregivers who are looking for understanding, support and a place to receive compassionate care for themselves.

What if we are not “In-Network” with your insurance plan?

Many  insurance companies will reimburse a portion of the fee that you pay for counseling with an out-of-network provider. You are responsible for paying the full session fee at the time of service and we provide an itemized receipt (superbill) which you can submit directly to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Contact your insurance provider to learn more about utilizing out-of-network benefits.
